International League T20 (ILT20) franchise Desert Vipers on Friday, roped in former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir for the upcoming second edition of the event.
The left-arm pacer is the fourth Pakistan player, picked by the Vipers, joining his compatriots Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan.
Mohammad Amir possesses vast experience in T20 cricket, having played 259 matches and has 303 wickets to his name with the help of two five-wicket hauls.
He has won several Trophies in Franchise Cricket, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with Karachi Kings in 2020.
Commenting on the signing, Vipers’ director of cricket Tom Moody said that Amir’s inclusion will add further depth to their quality bowling attack.
"In signing Amir, we have arranged a player who knows both the configuration, and the circumstances in the UAE, back to front," Snakes' head of cricket Tom Moody said in a media discharge.
"He was playing in Abu Dhabi actually as last month, for the New York Strikers in the T10 contest, under one of our guides, Carl Crowe, with the Strikers continuing to win that event all around in light of Amir's responsibilities with the ball.
“And in a World where player availability is not always guaranteed because of International Commitments, the fact he no longer plays for Pakistan means call-ups for his national Team are not an issue.
“Amir adds further depth to our quality pace attack and we look forward to welcoming him to the Desert Vipers and to him contributing to what we hope and expect will be a successful campaign.”
